Brave Software recently announced that it had reached 10 million downloads on Google Play Store for its popular web browser.
The firm revealed the above figures on its official Twitter account on August 24. The milestone means that Brave has doubled its user community in an incredible four-month period of growth.

Brave has grown by leaps and bounds over the course of 2018. In May, the browser reported that it had reached 5 million downloads in the Google Play Store. Only six months prior to that, the browser had clocked just over 1 million in downloads.
The group first released the iOS version on May 30 this year, before following that up with the Android version on June 13 and then Windows, macOS, and Linux on June 28.
Gaining such numbers is a testament to the firm’s brave ambitions and good signal to the crypto world because the browser supports Basic Attention Tokens (BAT).
However, the increased downloads could also be directly linked to Coinbase’s announcement that BAT was one of the coins the exchange was exploring.
BAT is an Ethereum-based open-source and decentralized ad exchange. Brave allows its users to reward content creators with cryptocurrency payments using BATs. Its users will, in turn, receive regular tokens sent to their wallet every other month for viewing advertisements.
Brave is an ad-blocking browser that seeks to reward users and content publishers whenever they use the platform. Rewards are in the form of Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) that has played a big role in attracting users to the platform.
The creators of the crypto-backed browser had one aim in mind: to revolutionize internet access through a robust content monetization model.
It completely blocks all ads and website trackers that make the browsing experience slow, uses up a lot of bandwidth, and above all invades user’s privacy.
In the end, publishers get better value for their content due to the removal of middlemen. Viewers also get a better experience using the browser as there are fewer and relevant ads, malware free.
Advertisers, on the other hand, get top information about user spending trends and related details.
Next step for Brave
Brave’s massive growth within a relatively short period of time can be put down to its key features and a number of great partnerships.
The team has secured a deal with Dow Jones Media Group that allows Brave users exclusive access to the company’s large pool of premium content.
It has also engaged popular content producers on YouTube and Twitch, allowing them to earn a little more than they would under traditional ad-based models.
An example of Brave’s growing influence is evident in its deal with YouTuber Philip DeFranco, a popular content creator with over 6 million subscribers. He illustrates the browsers need to connect with the young generation.
The future looks bright for Brave as it moves into the top cadre of browsers. At the moment, it has about 3 million Monthly Active Users (MAUs), but the figure projections put the figure at 5 million monthly users by the end of 2018.
By then, it could have hit over 20 million downloads, going by the recent growth pattern.
